My Family Album
Hosted by Demetre and Sarahe. Tune in Tuesdays, 9 – 11 pm.
Music in the year 2000 started innocently enough, bands played shows in smoky clubs hoping to get discovered by douchy Industry appointed experts in plaid shirts who in turn would make artists rich and famous via the normal means of production. That was the dream anyway.
But something happened on the way to the dance, first Napster shook the music industry then Lars shook back; then MP3s and IPods; then Torrenting and then… well it all sort of ended cause people stopped buying music. So now what? Who won? Who lost?
The answer is none of the above and all of the above.
The ashes of an industry left us with an incredibly diverse group of music in all genres from indie and hip hop to folk and psych to neo-soul and jazz to slow core and post punk to no genres at all as music began to be exchanged freely by artists and fans all over the world via the internet.
Join us for every Tuesday night from 8-10 pm while we scour the virtual archives of the last decade in music together. So much music, so little time.

My Family Album S06E03: Blue-Eyed Soul
Not quite a genre, Blue Eyed Soul was first coined in the 60s to describe White artists who ‘passed’ for Black on the radio. Kind of derogatory and kind of not, the British Press have kept the term alive to this day so we thought we’d have some fun with it and shine a light on all the funky white boys and girls out there. You may be surprised at what we found (we were), there’s some amazing stuff out there from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90 and Aughts.
My Family Album S06E02: The ‘The’ Show (Onomatologia #1)

My Family Album S05E07: Hold a Torch and be Guided By Voices
Yesterday was National GBV day in NYC and in case you don’t know of GBV they are one of greatest bands. And in case you still don’t know, you’ll hear why at 9pm.
Tonight: Torch singers sing their praises and a whole lotta Guided By Voices. It was going to be a trifecta with electronica but since Sarahe left Demetre at the alter tonight, you’re going to get what he’s got.
Enjoy us responsible.
