Rockaliser Radiorss

Hosted by Nathan Sacks. Tune in Sunday 8-9 PM ET.

Rockaliser Radio is a show dedicated to unyielding musical maximalism, shining a bit of light on the hundreds of ways the music we love can be classified, ordered, and enjoyed. Each week will revolve around a specific theme, be it historical (say, “Late 70s Punky Reggae Tunes”), musical (“Southern Hip-Hop Featuring Descending Bass Lines”) or otherwise random (“Songs About Alexander Haig”). Your host will solicit each week’s theme in advance, and listeners are welcome to offer their own suggestions via Twitter, Facebook, or email. Since the show is only an hour long, sometimes there might be more music to explore within the parameters of that week’s theme than we have space for, so if you happen to be fixin’ for more, check the individual show pages for further suggestions.

The last Sunday of each month will be reserved for a monthly “Goodie Bag” (named for Cee-Lo’s greatest verse), where your host will indulge in more random musical vacillations. Regardless of theme, however, expect plenty of chances to be taken. The overall goal of Rockaliser Radio is to become, over time, a digital repository for the hardest hip-hop, the unruliest rock music, the most furious funk, the jauntiest jazz fusion. As a rule, if it doesn’t sound good at maximum volume, chances are we won’t play it. Expect a weekly experience of unremitting, at times uncomfortable intensity.

Be sure to also check out our blog Rockaliser, which contains a lot of music-oriented think pieces and reviews co-written by your host and distinguished colleague Aaron Mendelson, as well as our corresponding Twitter feed. Feel free to comment on the blog or tweet-mention us if you’d like to contribute to the conversation. Who knows, if you’re in the New York area we might invite you to the studio as a resident expert! Keep your ears peeled for relevant opportunities.

Questions/vociferous complaints can be directed here. Your host welcomes negative as well as positive reinforcement, the more the better.
