This week on A Cups, Angela interviewed two badass women-in-charge: Michelle Levy (artist, curator and Director of Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts Project Space) and Sally Szwed(curator and Creative Time’s Program Manager). We talked inappropriate work relationships, racially charged pop music, maintaining an independent practice when working for institutions, Michelle’s obsessive projects about Agent Dale Cooper from Twin Peaks and a guy named Matthew Stromberg, women with authority, and curating gender ethics.
We also listened to + discussed challenging audio art pieces by Nate Hill, Jennifer Chan, Nathaniel Sullivan, and A Cups’ own co-host Ann Hirsch (who is on vacation and would otherwise be co-hosting <3).
ALSO! Michelle and Sally also have some exciting projects coming up! Michelle organizes the Residency for Arts Workers as Artists at EFA each year + it’s going on now. Sally is working on Untitled (As Of Yet), an exhibition she co-curated at Flux Factory opening in September.
