Next time you’re in a city and the train goes whizzing by, listen closely: there are sounds and rhythms in its movements that, when teased out, can create worlds of symphonic pleasure and technological resonance.
I kind of don’t know what I’m talking about.
Emperor X might though. He’s a connoisseur of public transportation, and the wonders of its mechanical lifestyle works its way into his music as fluidly as the subway glides through its subterranean tunnels. Which is to say, if you live in New York City, there are spurts and blips and stops and jarring starts that coalesce into something partially spontaneous, and oddly harmonious.
Emperor X is Chad Matheny. He joins The Hoot! in studio to play some live songs, guest DJ some music and chat about things. Joining Chad are bandmates Tyler Bussey and Joel Shaughnessy.
More info on Emperor X here. He would love if you followed him on Twitter.
